At the initiative of the Romanian National Anti-Doping Agency, April 10th was appointed as “Play True Day” in Romania, a milestone dedicated to the fight against doping in sport.
The decision was made official on April 7, 2016 through a Government Decision approved in the Cabinet’s Meeting of today. The goal of this day celebrated with national outreach is to raise public awareness on the global effort to fight doping which is considered the greatest adversity critically affecting sports and, indirectly, the society at large.
Effective this year, “Play True Day” will be celebrated on April 10th as a special day dedicated not only to athletes, coaches and individuals involved in sports, but also to more extended communities of people practising recreational sports or fans of sports.
The Romanian NADO is therefore looking forward to implementing the events planned for this coming Sunday and devised in cooperation with federations, sports clubs and the Professional Football League. “Play True Day” will be celebrated as part of major national competitions, such as: the finals of the National Junior Wrestling Championships in Targu-Mures, the finals of the Romanian Volleyball Cup in Piatra Neamt, the “Final Four” of the Romanian Basketball Cup and the soccer derby Steaua – Dinamo within the play-off of the First League.
